FAQ
Frequently asked questions
How much does a move cost?
Every move is different, which is why we don't publish prices. Local moves are generally based on crew size and time; long-distance moves are based on shipment weight, distance and services. The only accurate answer comes from a free survey and a written estimate — request one online or by phone.
Is the estimate free?
Yes. In-home and virtual surveys and written estimates are free with no obligation.
How far in advance should I schedule?
Two to four weeks for local moves and four to eight weeks for long-distance moves is ideal, with more lead time in late spring and summer and at the end of each month. Call us if you need to move sooner.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. Apollo holds PA PUC certificate A-00095719 and operates interstate under US DOT 2334280 as an Allied Van Lines agent. Valuation coverage options protect your shipment; see our valuation page.
Do you move on weekends?
Weekend moves are available depending on the season and schedule. Ask your consultant.
What's the difference between local, intrastate and interstate?
Local and intrastate moves start and end in Pennsylvania and are regulated by the PA PUC. Interstate moves cross a state line — even to nearby Ohio — and are federally regulated.
Will the same crew load and unload?
On local moves, yes. On long-distance moves your driver typically stays with your shipment and is assisted by local Allied crews at destination.
Can you pack for me?
Yes — full-service packing, fragile-only packing, or do-it-yourself with our supplies. We also unpack, remove debris and pick up empty boxes.
Do you offer storage?
Yes. Storage-in-transit for short gaps and long-term storage for household and commercial customers at our New Castle warehouse.
What items can't you move?
Hazardous materials (propane, gasoline, paint, aerosols, ammunition, chemicals), perishable food on long-distance moves, plants on long-distance moves, and live animals. Carry valuables, documents and medications with you.
Do you move pianos, safes and hot tubs?
Yes. Tell your consultant during the survey so we bring the right equipment and crew.
What if something gets damaged?
Note it on the delivery paperwork and contact us promptly. Your valuation choice determines how the claim is settled; we'll guide you through Allied's claims process.
Should I tip the movers?
Tipping is never required. If your crew did a great job and you'd like to, it's appreciated.
Do you move to Canada or overseas?
Yes, through Allied Van Lines' international network, with customs guidance and one point of contact.
Where are you located?
Our warehouse and office are at 3014 New Butler Rd., New Castle, PA 16101, open mon–fri 8:00am–5:00pm · weekends by appointment. Call 724-658-9017 or toll-free 800-562-0291.
